A Bit About Me

I am Rebecca (Becky) Stone, a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) in the state of Florida. I opened Stone Counseling & Consulting Services, LLC in 2017. I have professional experience not only in mental health and assessment, but also professional and personal experience in various fields: higher education administration and college/university student counseling; elementary, middle, and high school student counseling; restaurant and retail environments; scheduling and event services; childcare; leadership; dance; youth sports coaching; and technology.

Why I Became A Counselor

Growing up, I was the person people seemed to naturally gravitate to for a listening ear, sound advice, or shoulder to cry on. In elementary school, I was selected to become a peer mediator, who was called on to facilitate communication and conflict resolution between students who were experiencing interpersonal difficulties with one another. Peer mediation was something I excelled at and enjoyed. I continued to be called upon in middle school for this service, and even served as a trainer for other peer mediators within my own school and at other schools.

During my teen years, I personally experienced some negative life events and related emotional difficulties. While I sought counseling support, my experiences were unfortunately negative. I researched psychology, counseling, and  self-help and improved my emotional well-being over the course of many years. It was around age 15 that I decided I was going to become a counselor and provide positive experiences to my clients. I have been achieving my goals ever since, and I want to help you achieve your goals, whatever your goals may be.

Counseling Approach

Becky enjoys working with a diverse range of clients. She provides a safe environment for people to be open about their life experiences and concerns, and fosters the ability for clients to grow and achieve their goals. Identifying clients’ personal strengths and abilities is a very important part of counseling, and Becky will work with clients to utilize their innate assets to overcome challenges.

Becky believes there is no “one size fits all approach” to counseling, as each client and their concerns are unique. While Becky’s primary treatment modality is based in cognitive-behavioral therapy (an evidence-based best practice therapy), she is an eclectic therapist, integrating or borrowing many aspects of other treatment modalities and techniques, creating a truly custom experience for each client.
